Nutrition Program

The objective of Strive Foundation Rwanda’s (SFR) nutrition program is to ensure that vulnerable children and youths have access to adequate nutrition and hygiene resources. This program encompasses two main projects: Early Childhood Development (ECD) and support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) living in child-headed households (CHH).

Training on Nutrition and Hygiene:

  • Provide comprehensive training to parents and child-headed households on the importance of nutrition and hygiene practices within the household.
  • Collaborate with local health authorities to ensure training materials and methods are aligned with national standards.

Promotion of Kitchen Gardens:

  • Promote and facilitate the establishment of kitchen gardens in child-headed households.
  • Offer training and resources on sustainable gardening techniques to improve food security and nutritional intake.

Linking ECD Centers with Community Health Centers:

  • Foster partnerships between Early Childhood Development centers and community health centers to ensure systematic growth monitoring of young children.
  • Implement regular health check-ups and nutrition assessments to identify and address any growth or health issues promptly.

Provision of Livestock:

  • Provide one cow per Early Childhood Development center to support nutritional needs through milk production.
  • Offer training on livestock management and dairy farming to ensure the sustainability of this initiative.
