Reproductive Health Program

The objective of Strive Foundation Rwanda’s (SFR) ASRHR awareness program is to raise awareness and mobilize students on adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRHR) through school club initiatives. This program aims to create a supportive environment where students can openly discuss topics related to sexuality and the changes they experience during adolescence.

1

School Club Initiatives:

  • Establish and support school clubs dedicated to ASRHR awareness in targeted schools.
  • Encourage students to engage in open discussions about sex, puberty, and the challenges they face during adolescence.
  • Promote a culture of openness and understanding to reduce stigma and misinformation surrounding sexual health.
2

Reduction of Teen Pregnancies:

  • Implement activities and discussions that educate students on the consequences and prevention of teen pregnancies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of these initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and effectiveness.
  • As a result of these efforts, there has been a noticeable reduction in the number of teen pregnancies in the 10 targeted schools within Rusizi and Nyamasheke Districts.
3

Training of Focal Teachers:

  • Provide comprehensive training to focal teachers in each participating school on ASRHR topics.
  • Equip teachers with Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to enhance their knowledge and teaching capabilities.
  • Ensure teachers are well-prepared to guide and support students in ASRHR-related discussions and activities.
